• Doctoral degree in Physics (1981) and doctoral degree in Philosophy (1985).
• Scientific coordinator of the PhD program in "Foundations of the Life Sciences and Their Ethical Consequences" at the European School of Molecular Medicine - SEMM (Milano).
• Full Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the Dipartimento di Medicina, Chirurgia e Odontoiatria, Faculty of Medicine University of Milan) and the Firc Institute of Molecular Oncology Foundation - IFOM (Milano).
• Member of the Ethical Committee of the University of Milano (Italy); Member of the 'Comitato Regionale per i Trapianti del Piemonte e della Valle d'Aosta'; Chair of the Independent Ethical Committee of the European project “Eurocancercoms. Establishing an efficient network for cancer communication in Europe”.
• Editor of the series of books 'Dimensioni della scienza' (Bompiani, Milano).
• Main interests: epistemology, philosophy of the life sciences, applied ethics.
• He has published extensively in philosophy of physics, general philosophy of science, philosophy of the life sciences, history of philosophy, epistemology, bioethics and applied ethics.
